Here at The Herb Farm, we are all about promoting a sustainable lifestyle and that includes looking after our wildlife!
There are over 200 species of solitary bee and, as the name suggests, they live alone, although in truth they often nest close to one another. They do not produce honey, do not have a queen and do not live in hives. Solitary bees are doing their daily chores and pollinate flowers and fruit-bearing plants in South Africa, and even more than the 2 species of honeybees we have! Bee hotels give these gentle insects somewhere safe to breed. Which is so important since no bees mean no flowers and natural pollination.
This wooden bee hotel is designed to mimic the naturally occurring holes that solitary bees would use to nest and breed in nature.
We have these lovely Bee Hotels for sale at the Herb Farm Gardenette!
